Today’s guest is someone whose influence quietly underpins some of India’s most iconic financial institutions. Mr. Pradip Shah is the founding Managing Director of CRISIL — India’s first and largest credit rating agency — and was a key architect in bringing global rating standards to India. He’s also the founding board member of HDFC, and played a foundational role in building India’s mortgage financing ecosystem as we know it.
Mr. Shah has been a guiding force behind pioneering initiatives in financial services, private equity, and infrastructure development. From co-founding IndAsia Fund Advisors to shaping the boards of leading companies like Pfizer, BASF, and Bajaj Auto, his career reflects a rare blend of foresight, governance, and capital stewardship.
It’s an absolute privilege to sit down with someone who’s been a builder at the intersection of India’s capital markets, institutions, and trust — long before it became fashionable.
